Oghma

Building entire campaign settings is a lot of hard work. There’s so much to do, from setting the basic assumptions to building out the dieties, it can get overwhelming for both players and GMs.

Which is why, sometimes, strange connections to the real world creep in. And none is more strange and complicated than the appearance of Oghma in the Forgotten Realms.  And what we learn about Oghma and his place in the Forgotten Realms and D&D is only a small reflection of what really happened with Oghma in the real world.

It’s a fascinating and complex journey with many sidetracks. But when you understand the lessons of Oghma, you understand an important lesson about building worlds.
